Days like today...

Make me glad I'm not a teenager anymore.

Saturday, June 1, 2013

Our Nephew Brigham (12) told me, that he thinks Matt and I will be good parents. Glad he stills thinks so after the trip to Idaho.
Thanks for having Faith in us.
We need it.
When the time comes.
It's been fun, being with all of the Crawford side for the weekend.
Crazy, but fun to get to know all the kids, and in-laws more.

And even greater, because Andrew's (Matt's oldest brother) daughter Kassidy got baptized today!
She was so excited and happy!
What a special day!
I'm so glad we got to go!

...Even though, Kevin and Melissa were sealed today, and we missed it.

Oh wells...
too late now.
too bad we have to drive home tomorrow.

New favorite scripture.

Doctrine and Covenants 6:14.
"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, blessed art thou for what thou hast done; for thou hast ainquired of me, and behold, as often as thou hast inquired thou hast received instruction of my Spirit. If it had not been so, thou wouldst not have come to the place where thou art at this time."

This one time in sunday school...

We had an awesome lesson on tithing.
but it wasn't just your basic lesson either.
We read 1 Kings Chapter 17.
(Heather's translation)
We read the part where the Prophet Elijah was commanded to go to the city of Zarephath, where the Lord has prepared a widow to care for him.
He meets the widow, asks for a glass of water, and as she went to get it, he asks for bread. And this was during a famine and drought.
She tells him I don't have any, I am collecting sticks to dress with meal, and oil, then eat with my son and die. (from starvation)
Elijah makes the promise to her that if she makes a little bread for him FIRST. Then she would have enough to provide until the Lord sends the rain (to end the famine).
Well, this poor widow, did as the Prophet commanded.
AND SHE WAS BLESSED. THE LORD FULLFILLED HIS PROMISE.
Isn't that EXACTLY like the law of tithing? (as stated in Malachi 3: 10-11)
(look it up)

BUT WAIT
then her son falls sick and dies.
She is so upset.
She fully provided for this man of God. WHAT DID SHE DO WRONG?
Elijah takes her son from her then, and goes up into his room, cries unto the Lord.
Have you brought more sadenss (evil) upon the woman?
He blesses this child 3 times.
The Lord heard his plea, and brought back the breath and soul of this young boy.

Elijah, takes the boy back to his mother and holds him out to her. Look your son lives!
She then says to him "Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth."

We talked about how the law of tithing isn't made just for the physical building up of the kingdom, (ex: church buildings, power bills, temples, materials, etc)
But it's also for the literal saving of souls.

In Malachi 3:10-11 it says, "Bring ye all the atithes into the storehouse, that there may be bmeat in mine house, and cprove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not dopen you the ewindows of heaven, and pour you out a fblessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it....And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground...saith the Lord of hosts."

Blessings so great and marvelous, you WILL NOT have enough room for it.

This story and lesson some might think of Jesus Chirst and his sacrifice here on our earth.
But it made me immediately think of my cute, annoying, awkward teenage brother, Matthew.
If the law of tithing is for the direct and literal saving of souls, he would be an awesome example.
His story is amazing.

Decemeber 23, 1999, My Parents took my brother, Matthew to the doctor, our usual doctor was away for the holidays (I think), and they ended up going to friend of our family.
Because Matthew was so young (10 months) and a new patient, this doctor was feeling his stomach, felt a bump, and immediately got him a cat-scan. Just to find out the was something there. Later to find out it was neuroblastoma (type of cancer).

Matthew had bascially been sick on and off since he was born.
This had to be the reason.

That day, my parents packed everything left my brother Jeremy and I with Grandpa and Grandma Ward, told us everything would be okay, and they would be back in a week (hopefully)
Well, they stayed a lot longer than that. (I like to think this is when I did a lot of growning up, or trying to.)
And because it was the end of the year the insurance was completely changing for the next year.
The new insurance wouldn't help cover the treatments and surgery needed.
Long Story short, The OLD insurance covered it. (or helped)

(Please remember I was 8 when this happened, and this is my memory and what my mom has told me over the years.)

WHAT A BLESSING!!!!!!
Turns out previously, my parents hadn't been the best at paying their tithing. But repented, put things in order, and had been paying their tithing, and doing so faithfully by the time this happened.

I've known about this for years!
But it never came across to me that having my Brother Matthew, living, and heathy was a direct result of tithing. (and Prayer, and Priesthood blessings, and temples, and faith, of so many more people, from other religions. I remember how the community reacted, and that there was a lot of other faiths who prayed for my brother. I will never forget that.)

Anyways...
going back to 1 Kings...
When I think of the Prophet Elijah holding out this widows son, I picture Christ holding out her son.
Or even Christ holding out my brother Matthew, "Look, he lives!"

......I had to skip down, that's such a powerful picture.
Talk about opening the windows of heaven. .
Wow.

After everything we already had been blessed with.
He Prepared my parents.
Inspired Dr. Krogh.
Had a comfortable place for Jeremy and I.
Helped with the costs.
Made Christmas different but enjoyable.
Had a place where Mom and Dad could stay. (Ronald McDonald house)
Wonderful Nurses and Doctors.
gave us faith, knowing whatever happens, we would ALL be together again.

He literally handed us Matthew.

You know, This has affected my faith, and my parents, and many others. Just by this miracle.
We also talked about how just by being examples, little things you wouldn't think about could save a soul.
From this the Lord taught me the importance of tithing, because of my parents example, I've hardly (I'm human) missed or didn't pay tithing.
You know, it won't and hasn't just affected me.
I helped my husband realize the importance of fast offerings. (well I think so).
This will affect our children.
Hopefully some of my other siblings too.
and all the people they touch.
It's amazing what the Lord does, and how he does it.

You're Amazing

Dearest Matthew, You are so absolutely wonderful! You love every single little detail about me, and makes me feel so loved, and happy.
Thank you for loving my faulty emotional self, you never cease to amaze me.
You are the biggest, and best blessing of my life.
God could NOT have found a better match for me.
Happy 2 months of Marriage.

Eternally your love,
-Heather

p.s. you'll see this one day. hopefully sooner than later.

this is not a political post.

I just saw a picture of a girl I went to high school with who does the scolarship/beauty pageants. But in this picture she was promoting the NoH8 campaign.
(NoH8 campagin is basically a campaign that is just trying to challenge the Prop 8 law in California.)
Now, her personally do that, didn't bother me at all. I don't agree with it, but that's it. No big deal. Whatever you know?
But then there were pictures of her with another girl. A little girl, who can't be over the age 10. With the painted on words painted on her face and her mouth taped shut. Supporting the same cause.
SHE'S A LITTLE GIRL! SHE PROBABLY DOESN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND!

Then again, she could. Heck if I know.
Still it erks me. She is so young.
What influence could she have on other little kids? Or even adults?
What influence do I have on others?
It's a law, it's been passed. Just like the president. I didn't vote for our current president, but I don't go on complaining about him or trying to kick him out of the office. (The way I personally see it, people will still complain)
 Bad comparison? whatever.

thoughts....

So with my stomach acting up today and feeling like crap I've caught up on my blog a read a really cool article on facebook.
It was about this LDS woman who sold her engagement ring, and her wedding band so her husband could get a good camera for his photography trip he was taking super soon.
They just didn't have the money and the trip was coming up fast.
This was around Christmas time.
And somehow someway, a secret Santa returned her rings to her.
Not just another set, but her actual rings.
It made me think a lot.
Would I be that willing and have the faith to sell something so precious of mine to help support my husband, my family, or another fellow man?
Now, her husband was taking this trip to take pictures of multiple LDS temples, for people to have in their house. Which is a wonderful thing to do, because being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we base everything around the temple.
The temple is the holiest place on earth.
So therefore in order to go into the temple, you must being living a certain way.
Ex. no smoking, drinking alcohol, tea, or coffee, chewing tobacco. They ask you if you follow the church, support our all our leaders, if have a testimony of Christ and the restored gospel and also whether or not you are chaste. (only having sexual relations with your spouse, who you are legally and lawfully married)
Basically they want to to try to be the best person you can be.
So when people hang pictures of the temple within their home, it serves as a reminder of who we are and our divine potential.
We are all children of God.
Within the walls of the temple you learn about how our earth was created, about the fall of Adam and Eve, you learn about yourself and your heritage. It truly is wonderful.
Also when you go back to the temple, you take another persons name upon you. A person who has passed away, and is living in the next life. That way they have the same opportunity to learn and grow just as you have!
Within the temple, you are able to make certain wonderful promises with the Lord, that just govern who you are. And these promises are what our church is based around. Growing up in the church I heard all of them, often!
A couple of them are we promise to the Lord that to live the law of concentration and sacrifice.
Not literal, but as to dedicate all we have been blessed and given to the building up the kingdom of the Lord. Everything we have we have worked for yes. But we weren't able to do it ourselves. It's true. Honestly for me, it a way of always saying thank you to the Lord.
Now this wonderful woman, is such a wonderful example of that.
She truly did sacrifice something so precious for the building up of the kingdom of the Lord.
And she was greatly blessed by that.
The Lord loves us, and he loves to bless us.
I just can't get over how great that woman is. She never expected anything in return!
She has me thinking what can I do to bless the lives of someone around me.
I've been blessed with so much.
I think helping your fellow man, is one of the best ways we build up the kingdom of God.

For those curious, here is the article.

Missouri Reception!

Here's some pictures from the Missouri Reception, which was great!
We had a photo booth!

Beautiful Decorations.
And Yummy food, all thanks to Aunt Leslie for planning it for me.
:)
Now here are some fun pictures!

Sarah will probably hate me for posting this picture. heheheheheheh
Uncle Mike took a couple family pictures. And this is probably the best one.
 Cute Boys!

This is how I feel about cutting cake.
It's a lot harder than you think.
I begged him to shove it my face this time! And he did!
Vic, Alma and Nicole all came! It was great to see them all again!
Too bad we didn't get to spend much time with them.
I can't even describe how excited I was to see these girls again!
Last time I saw them was probably right out of high school!
I need to catch up with them next time I'm in Kirksville!
It was a moment of pure joy!
 These girls are all awesome!
Grandma Ward made us a quilt!
It's so beautiful!
Aunt Leslie did a wonderful embroidery in that corner!
Such a special blanket!

Sadly we had to get back to work. So we were there for maybe 24 hours.
It was a rough but good. weekend.

honeymoon madness!

We got the awesome opportunity to go to California! We went to Disneyland for 3 days, seaworld, and universal studios, and the beach of course!
All these pictures are out of order.
The First day we went to Universal Studios. Which was way awesome. You get a tour of the studios, where they make movies.
And they have rides there.
That all squirt water at you.
Yes. ALL OF THEM!
I'm sure it wouldn't be bad in the middle of summer. But in March when it's less than 60, and with a cold wind.
Bad. Very bad for Heather.
I froze.
My white bride jacket was fluffy, and I thought it was warm. So in the car it stayed.
We stayed in the cutest hotel about 3 miles south of Disneyland.
It's called peppertree.
I really liked it.
Except for people walking down the halls...because it sounded like they were in your room, only downside.
The picture below is from my favorite ride!
Space Mountain!
It's an indoor roller coaster, of basically just stars.
So awesome!
It was one of the last we did. So we only got on it once.
 Driving slow cars.
 Roller Coaster at Disney Adventure
 Seals at La Jolla.
World of Color. It was so freakin' cool.
They shot up mists of water and used it basically as a projector. Which had choreographed music, lights, water movement and Disney clips.
This was our last night in Cali.
Right before, we ate at Ariel's Grotto. Which is a fancy place, with a price to match.
It was good. but my ravioli soup was a bit too bitter for my liking.
Downtown Disney, we found a Lego store. Which had the Hulk. Lego Hulk.
We went to Oceanside Beach day 2, it was sunday, so the night before we gathered lunch picnic supplies from walmart.
And chilled around the beach(es)
We also rode around in this awesome bike built for two.
Matthew got a Chewy backpack from DisneyLand. It's pretty sweet.
One day at Disneyland we ate these turkey legs.
Yes, it's turkey, but it tastes like ham!
Sadly it made my tummy upset, so I sipped on some sprite.
Day 3 we went to Seaworld!
I was teased by dolphins, that I got to touch!
Fed Sea Lions, rode on a roller coaster 5 or 6 times, in a row, touched a sting ray, and many more things.
On our way back from Seaworld, we stopped again in Oceanside, and ate on the Pier at Ruby's.
Out on the Pier, with and amazing view of the ocean at sunset.
Plus the food was great!
These are our planned faces for tower of terror. They have the camera placement at a weird spot. You're not even dropping.
But this below, was my first time on it. So I was screaming out of pure terror!
We are bears. Do you see the awesome hats?
 Oceanside beach.
 On the Bike.
Then the last 3 days we spent at Disneyland. Which was so much fun!!!
Star Wars movie ride. Was pretty dang cool!
 Beautiful View of La Jolla.
 Originally I was winning.
That friday, we flew home. Matthew slept while I got our keys to our wonderful apartment, and started moving some of my things in.
Now that was a long day.
And moving in has been a long process.
Basically done. We finally got a washer and dryer. So i just get to perfect the bathroom now. Whoo. (and clean out the dryer)

Maybe later, When I don't feel so yucky
p.s. My tummy is acting up. :(
acid won't stay in my stomach it likes to leak into my throat and try to make me puke.
a lot.
I see a GI dr. in two weeks.
which will be the longest two weeks ever!
